Description of Business

Nykask’s focus on minimally impacting the entire river basin sets us apart from all other hydroelectric production companies.  By focusing the energy of a river with our industry-first dam design, our technology maximizes water pressure while utilizing less water.  With a short damn height, the impact on upriver communities and environments is largely reduced, as there is minimal retention.  This less harmful manner of harnessing the energy of the river provides great benefits in a variety of ways.  Nykask is able to maximize efficient energy output without impeding the natural flow of the river.  By designing a dam concept that harmonizes nature and energy production, Nykask can alleviate the electrification deficiency without negatively impacting the environment.

Our Technology

Nykask uses an Eco-friendly method to harness the energy of the river and provides great benefits to the surrounding area in a variety of ways.  First, by retaining little water upriver, there is no impact on local communities living within the valley or basin.  Nykask designs its products such that no village would be relocated, no person dispossessed of their lands.  Smaller retention amounts is a multifaceted improvement on conventional dam construction.  Along with the benefits for upriver communities, downriver communities would not be impacted as there is no threat of flooding due to dam failure.  By retaining much less water to begin with, an earthquake or other failure-causing event would not cause disruption downstream as there is no noticeable increase in the flow rate.

Second, unlike conventional dams, Nykask’s patented technology allows for the flow-through of important nutrient-rich sediment, and provides a runway for fish and other migratory aquatic animals.  By channeling only a portion of the river’s flow with state-of-the-art design, sediments are naturally allowed to flow unimpeded maintaining the stasis of the river.  The low dam height provides continuous water overflow, which, coupled with Nykask’s integrated fish ladder, maintains the natural migratory patterns for fish and wildlife that are vital to the economies and lifestyles of where this technology exists.  Again, Nykask’s design is ecologically-focused.

Third, our design is practical as well as aesthetic.  Nykask desires to minimize its visual presence within the river basin where the technology is installed.  A reinforced, cement foundation will be nearly invisible beneath the exterior of the dam structure, which will be covered with natural stones and boulders from the surrounding area.  Our design characteristic will not appear like the eyesore that typifies traditional dams.  However, this is not merely for appearance.  Using the existing rocks that naturally control the river is intentional.  The added strength of boulders and river rock will serve to anchor the main structure, protecting it from increased water flow due to natural or un-natural disasters.   Further, these reinforcements will protect the structure in the event of an earthquake.
